Julianne Haness

Julianne Haness, who works under the studio name J Marie Creates, is a Californian illustrator and surface pattern designer with more than twenty years behind her as a portrait artist and muralist. Raised in Southern California and now based outside Los Angeles, she paints by hand before any motif moves to repeat. Her illustrated collections lean into vintage colour stories, beachy florals, protea studies and a sense of playful, slightly offbeat charm that British homes in London, Manchester and Edinburgh have warmed to quickly.

Period homes in Bristol and Glasgow respond well to her softly aged palette. The hand-drawn texture sits comfortably beside Victorian cornicing, panelled walls and antique timber pieces, giving even small rooms a curated, gallery-like feel.
