Temporary Wallpaper

Temporary wallpaper is a peel-and-stick wall covering that goes straight onto smooth interior walls. No paste, no water, nothing more than a ruler, a smoother, and a sharp blade to trim the edges. When you want a fresh look, you pull it down and the wall underneath is fine.

Every design in our renter friendly wallpaper collection is made to measure and priced by the square metre, so the panel arrives cut to the size of your actual wall. That's a big deal if you live in an older UK home where the walls are almost never square. A chimney-breast alcove in a Victorian terrace in Bristol, a narrow hallway wall in a London flat, a full feature wall in a Manchester loft conversion. Same product, totally different dimensions, no standard roll to stretch or cut down.

Renter-Friendly Temporary Wallpaper for UK Homes

If you're renting, this is the easiest decor win going. The adhesive sits on painted plaster without pulling it up when you take it down later, so your deposit stays where it belongs. It works well in short lets, shared houses, and student digs in places like Edinburgh or Nottingham where you're only in the room for a year anyway.

And one more thing worth mentioning: you can lift and reposition the panel while you're putting it up. So if you get the first corner slightly off, it's not a disaster. You just peel it back a few inches and try again.

Custom Size Temporary Wallpaper for Every Wall

You enter the width and height at checkout, and the design prints to fit. No working out how many drops you need, no awkward pattern joins halfway up the wall, no offcuts sitting in the bin afterwards. The same made-to-measure approach runs through our self adhesive wallpaper range as well, if you prefer a finish built for longer installs.

The collection itself covers a lot of ground. Florals, botanicals, abstract prints, cityscapes, painterly landscapes, a fair bit of everything in between. If you want something calmer for a home-office backdrop or behind a bedroom headboard, there's plenty. If you want a proper bedroom accent wall that grabs attention when you walk into the room, also plenty. Browse the full range of removable wallpaper in your chosen dimensions.

How to Install and Remove Peel and Stick Wallpaper

Most people get it up in an afternoon. Peel back the first ten centimetres or so of the backing, line up the top edge, press down, and then work your way outwards from the middle with a smoother as you pull the rest of the backing away. Trim the bottom with a sharp blade against a ruler.

Taking it down later is even easier. Start at a top corner, pull slowly at a shallow angle, and the peel and stick wallpaper lifts away in one piece on most normal painted walls.

FAQs

Which materials is best for wallpaper?

Wallpapers are made from standard paper, canvas paper, premium paper, peel and stick materials for durability and style.

How Do I Measure My Wall for a Wall Mural?

Measure the wall's width and height, adding 2–4 inches for trimming. Check for obstacles like windows or doors and note their dimensions. Double-check measurements before ordering!

How Do I Order Custom Size Wallpaper or Wall Mural?

Pick a design, enter wall dimensions, choose material, and place your order. Contact support for help!

Does temporary wallpaper damage walls?

On a properly cured painted wall, no. The adhesive is low-tack on purpose, so it releases without taking the paint with it. The usual trouble spots are flat matte emulsion (which can chip when anything sticks to it), paint that hasn't fully hardened yet, and textured surfaces where the wallpaper can't grip evenly in the first place. Give new paint four weeks minimum before sticking anything to it.

How long does temporary wallpaper last?

A few years, usually. Somewhere between three and ten depending on the room. South-facing walls with a lot of direct sun are the harshest environment. Steamy bathrooms come second. A shaded bedroom wall with normal humidity will keep its colour and grip for a long time. You don't have to wait for it to fail though. You can take it down whenever you fancy a change.

Can I reuse temporary wallpaper after I take it down?

Honestly, not really. The adhesive loses most of its strength after being stretched once, and the material tends to distort a bit when you pull it off. Some premium ranges let you reposition during the first install, which is useful, but reliably reapplying the same panel to a new wall afterwards isn't something we'd recommend planning around.

Is it safe for bathrooms and kitchens?

Mostly yes. Normal ventilation is fine, and splashes wipe off with a damp cloth. The two places to avoid are inside the shower enclosure itself, and the strip of wall directly behind a hob, because constant steam and hot grease will work their way under the edges over time. Everywhere else in a bathroom or kitchen is fair game.

How do I put it up?

Peel back the first ten to fifteen centimetres of the backing at the top. Line the top edge of the panel up with the ceiling or picture rail. Press it down. Then slowly pull the rest of the backing away from behind with one hand while you smooth the front with the other, working from the middle of the panel outwards so any trapped air escapes out the sides. Trim the bottom with a ruler and a fresh blade when you get to the skirting.

What walls does it stick to?

Smooth, dry, clean painted walls with a satin or semi-gloss finish are ideal. Sealed wood panels are fine too. What it really doesn't like is anything chalky, dusty, greasy, or textured. Bare plaster, unpainted brick, heavy woodchip, and very matte emulsion are all going to give you trouble. A quick wipe with sugar soap and a dry-off before you start will save you a lot of hassle.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is per square metre, so the total depends on the size of the wall. A small alcove is going to cost a fraction of a full feature wall. Whatever dimensions you type in at checkout, the price updates right there so you can see it before you commit.

What's the difference between temporary wallpaper and normal wallpaper?

Normal wallpaper needs paste, a pasting table, and a steamer to get it off later, which is a proper job. Temporary wallpaper skips all of that. Peel, stick, smooth, done. And when you want to change it, you pull it off. That's the main difference in practice. Temporary is quicker to fit, friendlier to rented walls, and much easier to change your mind about later.
